The long wait is over! 11 tracks for the new album, mixed in our studio at Stahl 42. Once again we worked with the fantastic producer Colin MacKay.
A punky reggae-dub record with a techno pulse; sharp, political and distinctly British without preaching, it mixes dirty guitars, dub bass, electronic noise and restless rhythms. It’s angry, funny and slightly unhinged, music for watching the world burn while someone tries to sell you the ashes. It moves between boredom, money, suburbia, escape and the strange comfort of knowing everyone else is just as fucked as you are. Guitars clash with dub bass, electronic rhythms and battered drums, while the lyrics look at Britain from the pavement rather than the palace.
From the claustrophobia of In the Flat to the dead-end suburban world of Cul de Sac, the financial shrug of There Ain’t No Money, and the beautifully bleak idea of Destination Normal, the album keeps asking the same question: is this really as good as it gets? Then comes Give Me Hooligans , slow, melancholic and unexpectedly tender. Not a celebration of violence, but a longing for something real, raw and uncompromising in a world that’s become sanitised and predictable.

Zen Baseballbat's 4th album is a fantastic, forward thinking blend of new wave sounds fused onto their ska and reggae scaffolding. The likes of the B-52s, The Beat, The Specials, Yello, The Fall and Human League all play their part, while their Mancurian roots & influences remain undeniable throughout.
This album is dedicated to the life and art of Jane Anderson, who sadly passed away on 19 July 2022. She played a major part on Better Ways to Love and Offend and the complimentary Dub version, OTHER WAYS TO DUB AND OFFEND. Released in November 2022.

We’ve been a little quiet on the socials recently, but we’ve been busy in studio. As we begin recording the next album we’ve put together a little EP to get you started. ‘Frown, It’s Already Happened’ is a four track EP available to pre-order as a digital download on Bandcamp. The EP will go live on streaming services from March 1st. Give it a spin below.
